Hooray!! I just completed my first podcast with a GUEST. Part of the reason why I wanted to start a podcast is so that I could invite folks on who I think are incredible and changing the world in beautiful ways, to learn more about them and the work that they do. I wanted these conversations to be relatable and almost like you’re just listening to two friends chatting. My intention is to provide a space where you can be ‘midding’ and perhaps it also offers some helpful gems to you.
For those of you who do not know the term “midding,” it is from the Dictionary of Obscure Sorrows. Definitnion: “midding v. intr. feeling the tranquil pleasure of being near a gathering but not quite in it—hovering on the perimeter of a campfire, chatting outside a party while others dance inside, resting your head in the backseat of a car listening to your friends chatting up front—feeling blissfully invisible yet still fully included, safe in the knowledge that everyone is together and everyone is okay, with all the thrill of being there without the burden of having to be.”
I’ll also drop the Aldous Huxley quote from which the name “Gratuitous Grace” was born so you have a better feel for what I am getting at here.
“All I am suggesting is that the mescalin experience is what Catholic theologians call "a gratuitous grace," not necessary to salvation but potentially helpful and to be accepted thankfully, if made available. To be shaken out of the ruts of ordinary perception, to be shown for a few timeless hours the outer and the inner world, not as they appear to an animal obsessed with survival or to a human being obsessed with words and notions, but as they are apprehended, directly and unconditionally, by Mind at Large—this is an experience of inestimable value to everyone and especially to the intellectual.”
My intention is to show you things that I have found helpful, that have lifted me out of “ordinary” reality and helped me see from a greater perspective. They may or may not be useful to you. There are many paths up the mountain. But here’s the offering, you may take it or not. I don’t presume to have all the answers. However, I have seen my life change in fantastic ways and I have seen it for my clients too…so then…perhaps for you as well. Not so serious though, I am no guru. Just a person who is figuring out how to be human on this planet.
I hope you enjoy this chat! And please let me know what you think, what your take aways were, or anything else you would like me to know. I would love to hear. <3
